Castle Rock, CO | October 18, 2018 :: Bid Doc, Inc., developers of the BidMySmile platform, a digital marketplace that connects qualified patients with orthodontic specialists, announced this week its plans to move into the major metropolitan Texas markets, including Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth, San Antonio, and Austin. This news quickly follows their equity financing disclosure on October 16, 2018.
BidMySmile is a patient-generation website that was launched earlier this year. Consumers seeking orthodontic treatment create a profile, which includes a series of five dental photographs that can be taken with any smartphone. The case is then sent to local orthodontic specialists in the BidMySmile network for a preliminary diagnosis and a recommended treatment plan, including financial options. Once the newly informed patient has reviewed the offers from the local orthodontists and researched the doctor profiles, they select the option that best fits their treatment goals and budget considerations. Finally, the patient is then scheduled for the full in-office consultation and records prior to starting treatment.
Although the focus has been on Denver and surrounding areas, currently there are nearly 50 providers in-network, across 15 states. “We have been pleased with our progress so far,” explains Greg Pellegrom, Co-founder and CEO, “it is fair to say that the concept has been validated. BidMySmile has created a journey that results in a positive outcome for both the patient and the provider.”
Bid Doc, Inc. emphasized its focus on market research and listening to the voice of users. Marc Ring, Director of Marketing, explained, “There are aspects of what we are doing now that are different from how we were approaching it earlier in the summer. We have listened carefully to feedback from patients and doctors, and believe that we have incorporated the necessary changes to our business model and application workflow.” Ring previously ran a Denver-based marketing and website design agency that he co-founded. “Now it’s time to begin our controlled expansion,” he added.
The early success has been realized, in part, with a carefully calibrated digital marketing strategy on the consumer side. “Our highest likelihood of delivering qualified patients to practices – ones who are ready, willing, and able to start treatment – relies in part on connecting with them while they are thinking about getting braces or Invisalign,” offered Ring. “We want to snag them while the purchase intent is high.” Amongst other tactics, the company has reported immense success using targeted paid search. Pellegrom explained, “We are trying to intercept patients while they are actively doing the research. As soon as they see a free service that allows them to compare multiple offers from home, and potentially save a few bucks, it resonates with them.”
The expansion is planned to begin on November 1, when the digital marketing geo-targets are configured to include Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth, Austin and San Antonio. Pellegrom stated, “We will eventually be available nationally and are even looking at international plans. The east and west coasts will be a big move for us – but for right now we are just excited about bringing our service to Texas.” The company also reported that it will be expanding outside of Denver within Colorado, with the primary focus being Fort Collins and Colorado Springs, and surrounding areas.
